Bring Me Sunshine was launched at the beginning of 2007. After a year it held over 100 posts and had begun to attract a little attention. However, at the end of that twelve months I decided to discontinue the blog. My reasons were mainly to do with blog direction - I found it difficult to really know in my mind what I was trying to achieve. I was certainly putting hours into research but when comedy and music are the core subjects you do rely on visual aids, and that leads to copyright issues. So much of my work was left looking a bit awkward by the absence of the video clips, once present but then disappearing from the post.
After a long break and involvement in another blog, I probably thought I would never return to BMS. However, a couple of days ago I made a visit for old times sake and after enjoying what was left on the site, decided it could maybe, with a little pruning and cultivation, still be a worthwhile project. I also think I now know what it is I am looking to create. Essentially, I want a dashboard (to use a blogging term) of the things that I have enjoyed in my 50 years on this planet. Things that have made me laugh, things that inspire me. People I think are talented, kind and good. A scrapbook of my life that I can open whenever the mood takes me. Which is often.
So I am posting again from this month (March 2010). The old posts will remain, untouched, in a vault, at the beginning of the blog, but there to be viewed still. New posts will generally be shorter, and much more regular. I want to cram as much on as I can - so that whenever I pop in for a look, I have plenty to make me smile and bring me sunshine.
